The Spartans Model to Nationalism

Last night I watched ‘300’ movie from James which he lent me two days ago. With two packs of peanuts and a jumbo sized glass of mocha coffee, I spent the 2 hours of my evening with those Spartan soldiers. They are totally courageous men as it told by the movies since they were being outnumbered from the Persians, they still kept the spirit and bravery and fought out to protect their beloved country from being conquered.

These Spartans might be a good visualization to what we usually know as nationalism. The love to their own country. The movie told me a story how a nationalism was being uphold by marching up to the front line of battlefield. The price should be paid with lives. And died within the battle was the prideful state.

Nowadays, it not always need to be soldiers to be a nationalist. As long as we keep try to improve our capabilities in our daily life, we can still contribute our nationalism without died in the battle.

Losing the Post Ideas

The last time I remember, I was full of ideas to post on the blog, but this technical problem aroused so I just lost my eager to write about it. My connection went down the entire day, so I couldn’t make a single post. Actually I could write them on the Microsoft Word, but furthermore I needed to lookup for more articles to complete the post.

Usually I went to the internet shop to have another access, but this time it was fully overcrowded, so there’s no chance for me to use their service. I passed by a café which I know that they’re available for the hot spot area. Unfortunately, I have no portable gadgets such as notebook or PDA to access them.

I tried to contact my ISP and being promised that their connection would be established within 24 hours. There is irregular maintenance to one of their cable; they said they’re being replaced, and the downtime should be not more than a day.

I hope so, because I need to search for more design references. But still, I lost the post ideas.

Comment Spammers

You know when you started a blog that means you have started a conversation inside the internet. It’s the nature of a blog to have a comment box on every post on a page that allows people to put their words upon the particular written issues.

Some people put their enthusiasts about this comment box, that they would give the best opinion on every post the visited. This kind of people are good commentators and naturely they use blogs as the medium of discussion and building opinions.

Some others look comment box as the means to increase their own web popularity. They usually put comments with less relevance with the particular post and tend to promote their own website.

These people viewed blogs as the medium of promotion thus drop thousand of comments on every blog they visited. They usually don’t read the actual post, instead they instantly scroll down the page and search the comment box to type the similar words like: “I’m agree with you. Why don’t you visit my web?”

Looks annoying, huh…
Maybe we should call them comment spammers.

Suzy is Having Her New Poodle

This one maybe something contradiction to what I’ve experienced the last time. I’m so scared to dogs (any dogs) since a tiny dog nipped my leg. But, today Suzy bought herself a poodle that surely will accompany her to anywhere she goes.

She had the poodle from one of her friend who has many pets in his house. He is a pet-addicted so you will find that his pets are outnumbering the person lives in the house instead. There’s a funny conspiracy theory to me that if someday all the pets unite, they might attack and conquer the whole house as their kingdom :-)

Back to the poodle, Suzy answered that she bought that poodle also for my sake. At first, it was a true contradiction. But, she has the reason. She wants to get rid my dog-phobia out of my life. Maybe, with a little help from the poodle, will get me used with those four-legged creature which hunt me down to my dreams.

Reinstalling Windows

Several days ago, I have some problems with my computer. It worked so slow that made me frustrated whenever I should deal with projects that were bound with tight deadlines. Sometimes the program crashed in the middle of the work, so all I could do was push the reset button to get everything back to normal.

Moreover, in some cases the computer tend to restart itself. It was so annoying, when I was concentrating to certain work and suddenly the monitor went blank. The computer restarted itself and all you knew that your work was left unsaved.

At first, I thought it has a problem with any of its components. But, rather than rush to bring the computer to the service station, I tend to reinstall its operating system’s first. The last time it’s intalled was two years ago. I think it’s time for a refreshment since I remember that I’ve put many programs inside thus decreased the computer’s performance.

I Have the Best Contractors in the World

My suppliers have already on their way to Clarke’s and set their equipments for the office’s renovation. We make it two days earlier so we would have the entire renovation done before the due date. That will make us become more professional.

The field supervisor said that they have just finished a work outside the town for two months, so arriving at the Clarke’s site was a great thing.

Since I’m working as an architectural design, especially interior design, having a good supplier for the execution is something I should bother with. I like these guys, and having work together with them is a great experience for years.

I remember that I ever have a problem with one of my client about a year ago. I did make a mistake on my design so when it comes to be applied onto the real site, it just didn’t fit on some spots.

I almost lost my head until those men came with their smart solution. Actually, they’ve experienced the similar problem before, so when they faced with it once again, they have them all covered.

The Dog Scare

I went to the doctor to have a routine check upon my dog bite several days ago. The doctor gave me three shots of anti-tetanus injection and some pills to avoid fever. It is the last two days for me for the therapy and the last one which is next week should be done for me.

Now, I become a little bit scared of dogs. It’s a silly syndrome I think, but that tiny hound had got my nerves lost. Every time I passed on a dog, there’s always some kind of worrisome that the creature would run and hunt me as I started to escape myself from it. And last night I dreamed about straying dogs put their suspicious look after me. It was a nightmare as I couldn’t forgot it even when I took the bath.

Have I got into the phobia, yet?

How Do You Keep Your Passwords?

This password thing is one of the most concerned especially to ours that most familiar with computers and digital softwares. In the early days, I used to write all my income and expenses, plans and projects, photos and pictures, and many other stuffs in papers and books. But as the Microsoft Office installed for the first time on my computer, the new joy of managing data begun.

Simply I converted all my accounting data into a simple and informative spreadsheet. I could search and browse through them to find certain information easily and quickly, better than through pages of book. I converted the entire photo collection by the help of scanner and organized them with Picasa. So simple to save, also to simple share through the web album.

There are always negative sides beyond these digital form. Since they’re easy to share, those data are likely to be read, copied, stole, and use them for something that we don’t wanna happen. So I used to give passwords to the files which I considered as confidential.

But, we all know that thieves always get smarter and better than the security itself. And passwords are among the best thing for them to discover. Hmm… Rather than being stolen, I prefer to keep my passwords in the older way. Yes, I wrote them down. Back to papers.

Jog is Healthy but…

I have no idea whether this story is funny or terible. As my work already done today, I decided to take the twins offer: the afternoon jog. I went with them at 4 pm which I remembered that this was my first run after the last two months. Quite long enough.

And today, they invited me to come on their challenge. Hoho… they mean it, the race. The winner would have the $15 prize. I didn’t think that I might beat them both, but being asked for something bigger and more challenging [and nothing to lose], was something worth to try.

The plan was to run as fast as we can, and finish the race within three blocks. I ever took the afternoon jog with them, but participating in their common race was all brand new. Obviously, I could lose it since they were well-trained and sports addicted. But I believe in the words, ‘the one who believed shall reap the benefits’.

The count started within three, and we quickly paced each other to reach the end of the blocks. And of course, practice makes better. Surely I lost their track on the first block, and within the short breath something has got me into a bad luck. A small hound also join our race and suddenly he nipped my right leg and left some bite on it. Fortunately, I can expel him away by kicking at his head.

I lost my five bucks and have a tiny scar on the leg. I should call for a doctor. Poor me.

The Clarke’s New Official Interior Design Consultant

And so, the Clarke and Partners invite me to their office and give them further description to the design. The presentation took not more than a half hour and within minutes, they decided that I deserve to go for the project. I’m their official interior design consultant, now. It’s really surprising since my most adversary [which was well done and lots of brag] not even counted for the second chance since the first submission.

I was so curious about their instant decision about this, but they said they are too busy to search fresh ideas for their office design. When they saw my design [and the aquarium which gone across the wall], they said they done enough and found what they searched.

I have one week to prepare all the requirements to start their office renovation, and then another three weeks to bring the design into the real size.
