One of the remarkable contemporary house design is portrayed in a Ticino house called House in Carabbia. The house was planned by architect Davide Macullo in Switzerland. The owner of the house wished for an intimate and closed shell-like house. Carabbia is a small village with overall population of 600 people. The village rests on a slpe in a beautiful valley at the Western side of Mount San Salvatore.
The house has characteristic geometric structures that stop organization of space for maximum usage. The architects aimed at striking a deliberate relationship between interior-interior and interior-exterior.
The idea for this house comes from Japanese gardens, which portray a unique awareness of spatial usefulness via a sequence of sceneries and space dilation. This combines the experience of a unique personal taste while keeping the design impressions from a wider influence.
The house fulfills owners wishes to have an intimate space, a secure closed inhabitation. The house has a square geometrical shape. The play of space and slope renders a fluent and flowing perception inside the house with outstanding external views looking out to the beautiful landscape.
