Contemporary Design Facade of Hobson Bay House

The Hobson Bay House was designed by Stevens Lawson as a typical contemporary house. The house is ideally located on a north-declining slope looking out to the picturesque Hobson Bay in Auckland, New Zealand. Next to Hobson Bay house is an enclave of modern houses. To make full use of the breathtaking Hobson Bay views, the living area, sky deck and main bedroom are located on the upper floor.
The upper section of the house also serves as a semi-independent flat for the parents in te family. The ground floor has two private bedrooms for each of the two teenage sons. There is also a living area, a kitchenette and a garage on the lower level. To make the upper level really adequate, there is a small hydraulic good lift to carry supplies from the lower level. The lift feature ensures that the house is comfortable for elderly people as well. The owners can rest assured that they won’ have to move out in old age.
The upper story looks like a solid concrete nest with an enclosing for occupants to look out to the sea. To make this even more interesting this concrete mass sits on a delicate looking structure of timber and glass. The overhanging from the upper floor makes ampe verandah space in the lower area.
